SHANE HARRINGTON FILES FEDERAL CIVIL RIGHTS LAWSUIT

AGAINST CITY OF OMAHA AND STATE OF NEBRASKA TYRANTS

“In over 20 years of practicing law throughout the United States I have never seen justice perverted as I have witnessed in Nebraska in the case of Shane Harrington,” said the Plaintiffs’ attorney, Evan Spencer, “for some reason, the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Nebraska do not apply to Mr. Harrington, and the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government work in conjunction with law enforcement to deny him his civil rights as a matter of course.  Our 57-page federal lawsuit and request for immediate equitable relief only scratches the surface of the injustices Mr. Harrington has faced from conservative Christians in this State.  I am committed to litigating this case and as many cases as it takes to conclusion to receive justice for Mr. Harrington and all his supporters, members, dancers and employees, and to restore my own faith in the judicial process.”

“I’m prepared to fight for another 17 years until I turn 60, so I hope Nebraska is up for a long battle,” said Mr. Harrington, “I will not give up my right to own and operate my own business in

Nebraska and I won’t let the government and the police continue to violate my civil rights.”

“Judge Strong should have recused herself from the State case filed by previous counsel in

Lancaster District Court,” continued Mr. Spencer, “Judge Strong was appointed to the bench in

2015 by Governor Ricketts, the first named Defendant in the case.  It was impossible for Judge

Strong to maintain objectivity and impartiality in such a case and the insane ruling she issued in July illustrates this,” said Mr. Spencer, “now that we have a judicial forum in federal court before the Chief Judge Laurie Smith Camp, we are confident that we will finally receive justice.”

The lawsuit was filed Monday, the request for injunction was filed Tuesday, and 15 of the individual defendants were served with the lawsuit on Tuesday.  Governor Ricketts State Patrol requested that the lawsuit be left under the gate at his mansion.  Judge Strong’s lawsuit was accepted by the Clerk of District Court Lancaster County.  Senator Pansing Brooks accepted service and graciously assisted with trying to find Senator Thibodeau who is presently between offices.  Omaha Police Officer Michele Banger accepted service on behalf of herself and three other officers.  The Omaha City Clerk accepted service on behalf of the City of Omaha, Chris

Jerram, and Aimee Melton and the Mayor’s office accepted service on behalf of Mayor Stothert.  Mr. Harrington has requested a hearing Monday, August 20, 2018 at 2:30 PM, so he and his dancers can resume protesting and assembling publicly with signs at the intersection of 72nd Street and Dodge in pasties and panties.  The Defendants are required to respond to the lawsuit by September 4, 2018.
